The City of Toronto Basement Flooding Protection Subsidy Program expanded on May 1, 2026: up to $6,650 per property, up to 80 percent of invoiced costs, a higher amount for backwater valves and sump pumps, a new subsidy of up to $300 for battery backup systems, a second valve allowed for homes with multiple sewer connections, and a two-year application window. Work completed on or after November 12, 2025 qualifies under the enhanced amounts.
The requirements are firm. You need a City-licensed contractor, a building permit before the work, and a City inspection before the valve is covered. Rebates are first come, first served against the annual budget, so earlier in the year is better. Our team sequences all of it correctly.
